The Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta will mark the 150th anniversary of the Canadian confederation.
13 – 16 April 2017: The Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta will mark the 150th anniversary of the Canadian confederation. The transatlantic race meeting will start in London’s Greenwich and gather for four days on the River Thames before setting sail for Canada via Sines in Portugal, Bermuda and Boston.
Visitors can buy tickets to get on board Tall Ships for cruises on the Thames to Tower Bridge and back.
Greenwich is also the permanent home of another famous British boating attraction – the Cutty Sark. Step on-board the world’s only surviving tea clipper and back in to the 19th century, or walk beneath the boat and touch the original hull planks.
For all sailing, boating and water enthusiasts there are various other events around the UK during 2017.
All Wales Boat Show 2017, Conwy Quays Marina, Wales
9 – 11 June 2017: Located in the stunning castle town of Conwy, the All Wales Boat Show features a huge range of exhibitors, show events and activities where water sports enthusiasts, boating novices to experts and families looking for a fun day out can celebrate everything nautical. Browse the stalls and exhibitors, stop by at the events or try your hand at water sports.
Stratford River Festival, Stratford-upon-Avon, England
1-2 July 2017: Stratford’s largest family friendly, free event welcomes more than 70,000 visitors, with market stalls, entertainment and events both on and off the river. There will be live music and dance, local ales and Pimm’s, an artisan craft market and, if past events are anything to go by, a spectacular illuminated parade of boats and a grand firework display.
Bristol Harbour Festival, Bristol
21 – 22 July 2017: To celebrate Bristol’s maritime heritage, and the importance of the city’s docks and harbour, Bristol’s Harbour Festival transforms the harbour into a thriving festival packed with live performances. From Brunel’s ss Great Britain to M Shed, and from Queen Square to leafy Castle Park, there are artists, musicians, circus acts, children’s events, dancers, markets and street stalls. There will be hundreds of sailing boats on the water providing a vibrant backdrop.
Southampton Boat Show 2017, Southampton
15 – 24 September 2017: This year will be the Southampton Boat Show’s 49th show. It showcases the very best that the international marine industry has to offer with thousands of boats, brands and equipment on display, from the latest world launches and powerboats to sail. There will be plenty of opportunities for visitors to get out on the water for free and to experience dinghy sailing, power boating or a RIB ride. The whole family will be able to get active and explore the world of boating and water sports.
